Our method

How we verify

A temple guide is only useful if it is right. This is the rule we hold ourselves to.

No source, no page

Every fact on a temple page carries a numbered source. The site cannot be built if a fact is missing one.

When sources disagree

We say so on the page and mark the item "being verified". We do not quietly choose one version.

Timings

Temple timings change with the season and with festivals. Until we have an official timetable, we show what travel listings report, labelled as unconfirmed, and ask you to confirm with the temple.

Sources we prefer

The Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department, a temple's own notices, UNESCO and the Archaeological Survey of India, published books and inscriptions. Encyclopedia and travel pages are used only where nothing better has been found, and are labelled with their type.

Send a correction

Email vzealgroups@gmail.com with what should change and a link, book or inscription that says so. We check every suggestion before editing a page.
